Smile

Prompt: Photo – a present to yourself. Sift through all the photos of you from the past year. Choose one that best captures you; either who you are, or who you strive to be. Find the shot of you that is worth a thousand words. Share the image, who shot it, where, and what it best reveals about you.

This is a photo that was taken over the summer at a park in Brooklyn. My fiance or our friend Dan took it, I can’t quite remember. I’m on the right, and our friend Natania is on the left. Something that’s very important to me is always making time to have fun and let my inner child run free. I absolutely love swinging on the swings, and Natania does too. We were so excited when we saw these swings, that even when we realized they were the toddler kind and we could only sit awkwardly on top of them, we still jumped right on and started pumping our legs. I love this picture because we’re so unabashedly happy, coincidentally wearing matching outfits, and not surprisingly, matching smiles. To me, this picture represents my silly, fun side, and how happy I am when I’m in the company of good friends.

LOVE the swings! My best friend and I head to the parks in the summertime and just swing and chat, and when I was working near a playground, I would spend part of my lunch hour taking a walk around the park and rocking back and forth on the swings — can’t be anything more fun and/or calming.

I adore the picture — it compeletely captures you!

And PS: Can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see how happy you are. Much deserved, Sam! :)

Yay! They are SO fun and calming, I swear it’s therapeutic! I love finding people who appreciate the swings like I do. Too many of us suppress our inner child.

Thank you so much for loving my happiness! At first, I didn’t really know how to deal with being happy…as weird as that sounds. But, I love it, and I hope it sticks around for a long time!
