Personally, I too feel like so many of my close friends & family don't really understand this part of my life - my passion for blogging. It can be such a powerful tool to improve yourself and gain many skills, yet people lump it into the same category as playing video games or just wasting time. Facebook is a much more personal tool for me personally; I primarily use it to keep up with old friends and, of course, see who the latest person getting married is.

I recently jumped on the Twitter bandwagon; I’ll admit I was reluctant for a long time because it appeared to be a glorified Facebook status update. Little did I know it is being used as a valuable networking tool and business tool. There are companies that use the power of social networking as an advertising and marketing tool – and the ability to connect with consumers is pretty incredible.

Other social networking communities such as 20SB and Brazen are great for building one’s own personal network, and they are a great educational tool. I blog to educate, inspire, or otherwise entertain others, and I have that reciprocated to me through my online communities.
