Appreciating Laughter {Emily Jasper}

by Samantha on April 22, 2010

I love to laugh. If I could laugh more every day, I would be happy.

Giggles make me feel silly. Usually giggles perpetuate themselves, and then you can go for hours. Breaking out in a fit of giggles makes me think of those days as a kid where you’d literally roll around on the floor. There’s even a thing called The Giggle Loop.

I can also let out a good guffaw. Those usually come after I hear a bad pun joke (which I just happen to love). Plus, the guffaw itself is funny. Well, maybe not just the guffaw, but the two-second delay it takes me to get the joke. Want a funny bad pun joke? Two fish swim into a wall. One says “Damn!”

Snorting isn’t something I do too often. One might sneak in every once and a while, but it’s not my MO. Now, snuffles (mini-snorts), those I do. Snuffles show up when you’re trying not to laugh, especially if it’d be awkward. You can also cross reference The Giggle Loop.

Then there’s the villain laugh. When I’m most happy, the mwahahaha comes out. It may sound counter intuitive because you would assume that evil intent is at the base. I can’t explain why I sound like I want to take over the world, but that’s how it works. It also means if we’re in public, I’m probably the loudest one in the room.

And the best part of laughing? You’re usually doing it with friends and family. What more could you be thankful for?
