Did you check your grandfather for signs of dementia? Negativity and querulousness can be clues of the onset. It would be a shame for him to alienate friends and family now.

As for living for yourself – Bravo! People are much nicer to be around when they honestly do and say what they need and want. If you are true to yourself, others feel safe with you. You’ll end having less disagreements in the long run.

in parctice it sounds quite a good idear but the problem is does it take into account of othere people feeling like relatives

Andhari, I'm glad you agree with my philosophy. It's so hard to put ourselves first, but it's something we really have to do. You're right that my grandpa is hurt and that's part of why he acts the way he does, but for me, being hurt doesn't excuse hurting others. Thanks so much for your comments!
