Hi, I’m Sam. Welcome to Life is Like a Box of Chocolates! This blog is where I share my experiences, opinions, and knowledge, and the lessons I’ve learned. My hope is that each post touches you in some way and offers something useful to your life. In the wise words of Forest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Read on for more about me!
I was born and raised in Massachusetts, and moved to Long Island in the middle of high school. I went back to New England for college, studying Journalism at Quinnipiac University. I now live in New York City with my husband, Rob.
I’m an only child and I’m very close with my parents. Friendship is incredibly important to me. I have great friends, and you’ll see that friendship is a common topic on this blog. I strongly believe in the importance of appreciating the people in your life, and I try to remind everyone to make appreciation a part of their every day. Remember that it doesn’t take much to make someone smile.
I’m a giver, and I love doing things for other people. I have a huge heart, and when I care about someone, I really care. If someone needs an ear to listen or a piece of advice, I’m there for them. That’s just me. I may seem quiet before you get to know me, but you’ll find out that I actually have a lot to say.
I love football (especially the New England Patriots), ice cream, fashion, traveling, reading, the beach, and meeting new people, among many other things. Writing is my passion. I believe in making every moment count.

I’ve always loved to write and tell peoples’ stories, and it was this love that led me to major in Journalism at Quinnipiac University. When it came time to choose a minor, I realized how valuable computer skills would be as media continued to move to online. So, I selected Information Systems Management, and despite some incredibly painful programming classes, I definitely learned a lot of valuable information.
While I was in school, I supplemented my classroom education with hands-on experience in the form of three internships at The Religious Action Center, Sesame Workshop, and the NFL Players Association. You can read more about them on my LinkedIn profile.
From January 2009 through June 2010, I worked in marketing at online ad network, CPX Interactive. My primary responsibility was creating and implementing a social media marketing plan for the company. I was in charge of all of CPX’s social media profiles, as well as the CPX Ad Network Blog, and the philanthropic site CPXample.org.
In November 2010, I started as Development Assistant at ARZA (The Association of Reform Zionists of America). ARZA raises money to maintain and grow the Progressive Jewish community in Israel, in an effort to build an inclusive, democratic Israeli society. My role is ever-evolving, but includes tasks involving membership, donations, donor research, and social media.
